When the Missouri State Penitentiary was decommissioned in 2004, it became a historic landmark in the state’s capital of Jefferson City. There are a variety of tours from which guests can pick to spend their time, such as the historic tour, a ghost tour, or a photography tour. Guests will walk through several historic housing units, the outside yard of the prison and the gas chamber where 40 men and women were executed. Fans of paranormal investigators will appreciate stories of the first hand ghostly sightings at Missouri State Penitentiary.
