The century-old Mount Hood Railroad is one of the most unique and memorable experiences for visitors in the Columbia River Gorge region. The train offers rides daily Thursday-Saturday from the city of Hood River that takes you through 3 miles of vineyards, orchards, forests, and iconic views of Mt. Hood in the distance. You even get to experience one of the only 5 remaining train switchbacks in the United States. They also offer rail-biking, where you and a partner can rent a railcar that is situated on the train tracks, and pedal the route yourself.

Aside from the classic train option, they are famous for their Christmas Train, which takes families on a trip to Santa’s Village. It makes for the perfect winter trip for kids and adults alike. During nonwinter months, the train has done events like a train robbery show, and a murder mystery so is sure to check the website for any new events that may be going on while you are there. Regardless of which experience you choose, experiencing the wonder of train travel in such a beautiful area is sure to make memories that will last a lifetime.
