Visitors to the Ste. Genevieve Art Center & Art Museum may find an art class in progress, or one or more of members of the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild at work on a painting or sketch (but always ready for a friendly chat). They’ll have the opportunity to explore a show of work by the 50 or so members of the Guild, many of whom have won recognition in the Region and beyond. And they can track the rich history of Ste. Genevieve’s art community through rotating exhibits high-lighting the connection between Ste. Genevieve, major art movements, and artists like Thomas Hart Benton. They can pick up an Art History Trail map that guides them to places of artistic interest throughout downtown.  The Ste. Genevieve art community lays claim to a more varied and vibrant past than any other its size in the entire Midwest.

Opened in September 2020, the center is located in the heart of the downtown historic district, housed in a Norman Revival limestone building that was constructed in 1933 as the town’s museum and library. Original, one-of-a-kind paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry and cards by Guild artists are available for purchase.
