We’re an exceptionally friendly community, yet always direct: The sooner you stop reading these words and start exploring the virtual grandeur of historic Nebraska City, the sooner you’ll be making plans to explore the real thing. We look forward to seeing you very, very soon for unique things to observe and discover, food to eat and places to stay.

Nebraska City is the home of Arbor Day, the tree planting holiday that is now celebrated around the world. In addition to many state champion trees, our community has several environmentally friendly attractions including a tree-top village, u-pick orchards, hiking and biking trails and an aquatic center. We are the oldest incorporated community in Nebraska who’s history is preserved and described in 10 unique museums including a windmill museum, firefighters museum, freighters museum, underground rail road site and a Lewis & Clark Visitors Center.

We celebrate Arbor Day the last Friday in April with a parade, marathon and fun family events. We celebrate the apple harvest the third weekend in September with our big Apple Jack Festival.
