Northern Kentucky has a rich and colorful history, ranging from prehistoric creatures whose fossilized remains are embedded in the stones and salt licks to the courageous pioneers who floated down the Ohio on flatboats to settle the region.  Wars were fought here, industries were developed here, artists created here and generations of families built their homes and their lives here.

Behringer-Crawford Museum in Covington’s Devou Park is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Northern Kentucky’s history and people through four floors of well-curated exhibits. Step through its doors and you will see The Kentucky, the last streetcar to run through local towns, and an interactive, mid-century model train layout featuring area landmarks.

Walk through the museum and you’ll stroll through history – the jawbone of a mastodon, the uniform of a Civil War soldier, steamboat artifacts, a drive-in movie. Northern Kentucky arts are also on display, with stained glass windows by Wolfgang Ritschel, woodcuts by Harlan Hubbard and paintings by Mary Bruce Sharon.  Head outside for NaturePlay@BCM, a contained green space where children can play, run free and explore natural history.

The museum also offers dozens of interactive programs, ranging from Tot Tuesdays! for preschoolers and parents to monthly Brown Bag Lunches featuring talks by local experts. In the summer, families and friends gather for the Music@BCM outdoor concert series.  In the winter, it’s Holiday Traditions@BCM, featuring the museum’s beloved Holiday Toy Trains, Dickens Village and Wahoo’s Winter Wonderland.

There’s so much history, heritage and culture to discover in Northern Kentucky.  Your exploration begins at Behringer-Crawford Museum.
