Spanning 80 acres and featuring twenty-one structures, Shoal Creek Living History Museum brings history to life in Kansas City. The grounds are open daily, while buildings are open during special events. A self-guided tour brochure provides information about building occupants and uses. Events at Shoal Creek invite visitors into the buildings, which include thirteen authentic 19th century buildings (dating from 1807-1885), and “bring the village to life” with skits, skirmishes, and demonstrations. An events calendar is visible on the museum’s website. Visiting the grounds is free, while the admission fee for special events helps the museum continue its work in education and restoration.
