History of Breweries in Madison, IN
As one of the primary brewing communities west of the Alleghenies, Madison’s four breweries created extraordinary lagers from 1818-1918. Back then, most of the distilleries were worked by Germans who brought their own recipes from Europe. The brewing business was exceptionally prosperous in Madison until Forbiddance. Madison has the most established standing distillery working in Indiana, the Greiner Brewery, east of downtown. The Greiner building was the site of Madison’s first brewery.
New Madison Brewing Co. chose their name out of respect to Madison’s last large brewery, Madison Brewing Co. The brewery offers up to twelve taps, and rotates their menu regularly. Feel free to give them a follow on social media under the name New Madison Brewing Co. Come for a visit, immerse yourself in Madison’s newest must see attractions and sample wonderful craft beer brewed to perfection by local vendors.
