Keelboat Park is the perfect location to see the beauty of the Missouri River, explore walking trails, view culturally significant art, and learn more about history.  The park’s outdoor, self-guided walking tour lists historical facts about the area during the time of Lewis and Clark.  Additionally, the park contains important historical and cultural displays that celebrate the history of North Dakota.  A 55-foot full-scale replica keelboat, similar to what was used by Lewis and Clark, is displayed on the walking trail.  Nearby is the Thunderbirds sculpture, which portrays the Great Spirit, constructed by student artists from the nearby United Tribes Technical College.  Finally, abstract sculptural depictions of William Clark, Meriwether Lewis, and Sakakawea remind visitors of North Dakota’s importance in exploration and discovery.
