Carnegie Science Center

The Carnegie Science Center sits directly next to the Ohio River and is recognizable by its giant Weather Cone that sits atop the building! Since its opening in October of 1991, the exhibits have been constantly evolving and drawing visitors in, with numerous expansions having since been made onto the original museum. It has won the National Award for Museum Service and is a place recognized and loved by both Pittsburgh locals and newcomers. 

Carnegie Science Center offers four floors of interactive experiences, including the world’s largest permanent robotics exhibit, a coral reef aquarium, the Miniature Railroad & Village, and hundreds of hands-on exhibits. An IMAX theater housing the biggest screen in Pittsburgh and a planetarium with shows running daily are also available for visitors!

Situated right next to the Science Center building is Highmark SportsWorks, a science and sports experience unlike any other where visitors can try exciting sports challenges and explore nearly 30 hands-on exhibits about the physics of sports, nutrition, and health. One ticket buys access to both of these great facilities, making this a day-long activity that both kids and adults will undoubtedly enjoy!
