On July 4, 1987, the people of Williston dedicated a powerful monument to agriculture, honoring the men and women who settled the prairie and made wheat and other grains the economic and nutritional backbone of the region. Located in Davidson Park in northwest Williston, the monument was designed and built by David Njos and features three towering iron stalks of wheat, reaching 35 feet into the sky. It includes three black granite plaques, the same stone used in the National Vietnam Memorial, and bears the names of local pioneers from the past century, with space for future generations to be honored. This permanent tribute stands as a reminder of the hard work and progress made by our ancestors, and continued requests for name engravings ensure the legacy of the land and its people lives on.
