Adjacent to the Wild and Scenic Lochsa River, Lochsa Lodge, and the historic Powell Ranger Station, Powell Campground has three paved loops and sits in a mature stand of mixed-conifers and shrubs, providing nice shade for all the campsites. It is a great base for Lewis and Clark Trail explorations, and Expedition camped near here in September 1805.
The campground will accommodate 40-ft. RV’s with electricity, and 19 campsites are reservable. One loop is dedicated to day-use, and the campground offers water, picnic tables, fire rings, and toilets.
The campground is within walking distance to the historic Powell Ranger Station and Lochsa Lodge, which has a restaurant, rental cabins, convenience store and fuel. Visitors to Powell Campground often enjoy relaxing by the river, fishing, rafting and swimming as well as hiking and backpacking on some of the nearby trails.
