Located near Hays on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, Mission Canyon follows People’s Creek into the picturesque Little Rocky Mountains. A gravel road winds through steep limestone cliffs riddled with caves, reaching the Mission Canyon Natural Bridge after 0.5 miles. This stunning natural bridge, which towers 60 feet above the ground, was carved out of the surrounding limestone by centuries of erosion. The Hays Pow Wow is held each August in Mission Canyon and features Native American dancing, music, and cultural events. The pow wow is open to the public and provides an opportunity for visitors to experience the traditions of some of the indigenous cultures that shaped the region.
