Loess Hills National Scenic Byway
Located along the Iowa/Nebraska border, the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway travels through a one-of-a-kind land formation. The Loess Hills, covering an area up to 15 miles wide and 200 miles long, are made of windblown soils. This geographic creation has been in process since the last ice age. Today, visitors can travel along the byway to experience gorgeous scenery and take part in outdoor recreation. There are campsites along the byway in addition to cabins and bed & breakfasts. Don’t miss local foods, from breakfast to breweries, located along the route. Loess Hills are perhaps best known for the plentiful hiking opportunities that cover six counties and four state parks, each showcasing the unique and sprawling landscape of the area.
