Kope Hollow Nature Preserve
Kope Hollow Nature Preserve is a small oasis along the Ohio River Scenic Byway. We know Meriwether Lewis passed by in late September 1803, but we do not know if he stopped here on his way to Cincinnati. The trail here would be just the type of natural exploration he was known to enjoy: hundreds of native plant species, bird sightings, an uphill climb through the Kope rock formation, and over ten picturesque waterfalls. Get your “Age of Enlightenment” naturalist on and take a hike up the hollow!
The trail is 1.2 miles in length and managed by the Cardinal Land Conservancy. The entrance is an unsigned gravel road across from an old schoolhouse on the Scenic Byway. There is a sign at the trailhead to confirm your arrival.
