Kooskia Gateway
At the turn off for Kooskia (Idaho HW 13) is an old weigh station that has been converted into an area chock-full of tourist information and historical interpretation. Kooskia was a traditional Nez Perce village near the confluence of the North and Middle Fork Clearwater rivers. Kooskia was visited on occasion by various members while the Expedition camped at Long Camp—across from present Kamiah, Idaho—in the spring of 1806.
Kooskia Gateway is also the gateway to the Magruder Corridor—also known as the Southern Nez Perce Trail—and the Elk City Wagon Road.
