Situated within the heart of the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, the Cheyenne River Youth Project’s Keya Gift Shop stands as a cultural emporium, offering a treasure trove of artisanal wonders and traditional Lakota craftsmanship. Adorned with an exquisite array of handcrafted jewelry, pottery, textiles and intricate beadwork, the gift shop serves as a testament to the rich artistic legacy of the Lakota people, showcasing their profound reverence for beauty, nature and spirituality. Each meticulously curated piece reflects a deep-rooted connection to the land and a profound appreciation for the Tribe’s ancestral traditions.

With a focus on preserving indigenous art forms and supporting local artisans, the Keya Gift Shop provides a platform for cultural exchange and economic empowerment, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the captivating tapestry of Lakota heritage. The Keya Gift Shop is a social enterprise created by CRYP, a 35-year-old, Native-led, nonprofit organization that stands as a beacon of hope and transformation for the region’s youth. Here, the youth learn skills in Native arts and culture, food sovereignty, wellness, and so much more. Its vibrant 5-acre campus, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, provides a serene and nurturing environment conducive to healing and growth.

Those who seek memorable gifts that support a worthy cause will find a wide variety of homemade food items, each created with produce from our Winyan Toka Win Garden. Canned goods include sliced dill pickles, canned tomatoes, pickled green tomatoes, apple chutney, mild and spicy salsa, dill pickle spears, zucchini jelly, strawberry rhubarb jelly, cranberry jalapeño jelly, jalapeño jelly, spicy jalapeño jelly, pickled jalapeño peppers, pickled radishes, bread-and-butter jalapeño peppers, onion relish, sweet pepper jelly, strawberry jam, tomato jam, zucchini pasta sauce and spicy white pickles. Using traditional Lakota foods, the gift shop also features wild plum jelly, wild plum syrup, wild grape jelly, chokecherry jelly, chokecherry syrup, dried turnips and dried turnip braids. Other dried goods include dried corn and chili peppers.

In addition, the youth project sells CRYP T-shirts and sweatshirts, as well as shirts screen-printed on site; Cokata Wiconi History Wall posters; jewelry from local artists, as well as from BLine Jewelry’s Barbara Finkelstein, a CRYP supporter who donates the items to the gift shop; prints of “Four Horsemen of the Lakota,” a painting by renowned artist and Rosebud Sioux tribal member Lynn Burnette Sr. (the prints are available in three sizes); and RedCan T-shirts, coffee mugs and both whole-bean and ground coffee (inspired by our annual invitational graffiti jam).

Select gift items are available through our online store at https://lakotayouth.org/shop/. For information about items that are only available in-store, please call (605) 964-8200 today.
