Jefferson City National Cemetery

Jefferson City National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in Jefferson City, Missouri, within Cole County. Administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and overseen by Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, it spans 2 acres and, as of 2005, had 1,792 interments. The cemetery serves as the final resting place for veterans from various U.S. wars.

The cemetery’s history dates back to 1861, when the first interments were made for American Civil War soldiers who died during skirmishes in the region. Although the area did not experience major combat, the cemetery was officially designated as a National Cemetery in 1867.

Jefferson City National Cemetery is recognized for its historical significance and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 1, 1998.
