Explore Lewis County’s Backyard on National Trails Day! Join us for a family-friendly hike as we celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 1, 2025! We’ll explore the beautiful “Footsteps Through History” trail and learn the principles of Leave No Trace along the way. After the hike, enjoy a small treat provided by the American Hiking Society.
Directions to the Meriwether Lewis Monument Restroom Parking Area and Trailhead:
* From the Natchez Trace Parkway, turn at milepost 385.9 toward the Meriwether Lewis Monument and take the second right to reach the restroom parking area.
* From Highway 20, turn toward the Meriwether Lewis Monument and take the second right into the restroom parking lot.
The trail begins near the interpretive sign and benches, located across the parking lot from the restrooms.
