After three decades of IRC advocacy for the relocation of a 2.5 mile section of the Middle Fork Road which had devastated the river and its fishery, the road section was obliterated in 2023. Stream restoration at 17 fords and 52 entrance/exit ramps is now underway. A horse and hiker trail was also re-established through this scenic river canyon in the Middle Fork Judith Wilderness Study Area. Wild Montana-IRC thanks Montana Trout Unlimited, Helena-Lewis & Clark National Forest, Montana DEQ and the EPA for their crucial roles and funding support to restore the Middle Fork Judith.
