From his upcoming book Indomitable Women of the Salmon River Canyon, Wayne Johnson, Salmon River Outfitter, historian, and author explores the life of Joyce Close and her family in the Salmon River Canyon during the 1960s and 1970s–living at and operating both Mackay Bar and the James Ranch. With her courage, ingenuity, and strength, Joyce and her family survived the flood of 1974. brutal cold, severe injuries, food shortages, and the deaths of beloved animals. She was partner, mother, provider, teacher–she not only survived, Joyce prevailed.
Doors open at 6:00; program begins at 6:30. It is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged to support educational programming and exhibits.
Light hors d’oeuvres and liquid refreshments will be served.
